Sometimes, when I go to bed on time, I lie awake being bothered by something. It usually takes about half an hour of tossing and turning to find out what it is. It's my parents watching TV downstairs, or having their radio on in their bedroom. I can't exactly hear the sounds, but apparently it registers in my brain somehow, and keeps me awake. It's odd, because I can fall asleep with my radio playing at a normal sound level, but apparently the consciously inaudible sound of something distant is just too disturbing for my mind to ignore..

I have this problem a lot, since my bedroom is in the basement and if anyone/anything moves upstairs, the floor squeaks and it's enough to drive me batty. :[

I am the same, I have to get everything turned down to a level that doesn't register with me or I wont sleep.

It reminds me of my roommate at Caltech that makes all these weird sounds I told you about. They just keep distracting me, even though they can't be all that loud. Now I just work at home to avoid the guy.
